Lady caught large fish in the Marsh with Victory Bay Charters

Previous Trips during July and August

Pictured above are previous trips from July and August last year to show the fishing can be good this time of year. There can be some days when you’ve got to work for each fish, due to the water temperature holding in the upper eighties. This time of year, dead shrimp under a cork or live shrimp fished deep on the bottom will be the most productive method of catching Redfish. When fishing the deep holes in the lakes, our poles are rigged with a 20lb braid connected to a 15lb mono or fluorocarbon line, with either a drop shot attached or a Carolina rig. Also lurking on the bottom amongst the Redfish can be Flounder, Black Drum, Sheepshead, and the occasional Speckled Trout. Currently, we are waiting for a Tropical wave to dissipate. Though the rain is preventing the boats from leaving the dock, the wave has brought a stiff east wind, which will push saltwater into the area. Once the rain passes, I’m sure the Speckled Trout will be a very short drive away.
